Zodiac Locren, The / Rokuren Gajin 2001

This board game has players place playing pieces wherever they like on the hexagonal grid gameboard. Points are scored for laying three or more pieces in a row, depending on how they are laid out. Simple rules make it easy for children as young as grade school to play. The more you play, the more demanding the game becomes. The game begins with the player's first move. You begin the game with 200 points. You may place one of your playing pieces (red) in any unoccupied space. Point values are as follows: Three of your own pieces in a row are worth five points; Four of your own pieces in a row are worth ten points; Five of your own pieces in a row are worth twenty points; And six of your own pieces in a row are worth forty points. At least one end of a row of playing pieces must be open for it to count, however. Also, point values double if both ends of a row are open. Points earned are subtracted from existing point totals. The first player to reach zero points is the winner. If neither player reaches zero points even after all playing pieces have been played, the player with the least points is the winner.
