A collection of stories set in the Narugami Gakuen 1995 and Midnight Collection series. Contains "Emichan no Satsujin CLUB Kansatsunikki", "Okuri Inu" and "Hashira no Kizu". It's an alternate retelling of the horror VN Apathy – Gakkou de Atta Kowai Hanashi which first debuted on – wait for it – the Super Famicom in 1995! Additional scenarios and art were eventually added to the original in 2007 to make Apathy 1995 – Gakkou de Atta Kowai Hanashi – VNV Version. The first story of Emi's Murder Club Observation Diary, is a 84 ending whopper of a story, though fortunately it doesn't take long to reach each ending. It chronicles the adventures of a psychopathic schoolgirl and her attempts not to be assassinated by the school’s Murder Club. It’s dark, twisted and ever so humorous. The theme is horror flavoured with copious amounts of black comedy, like icing on a cake made of human organs. The second, The Following Dog, has 36 endings and exchanges the black comedy with drama. It's a far more down-to-earth horror story – a much needed change from the manic pace of the Murder Club's chaos. The third, Scratches on the Pillars, rounds the collection off with a very evocative, artistic short story. It's an absolute masterpiece. The art is astounding and the atmosphere it evokes is beautiful. The downside is that it's extremely short and is completely linear, but it's an experience in itself. It was followed in 2008 by Renewal Edition where rearranged music from Gakkou de Atta Kowai Hanashi was completely replaced and an ED sung by Katakiri Rekka was added. It features new graphics, more violent than the previous edition, and a new branching scenario called "Amedama Baa-san" told by Iwashita Akemi. In 2009, a Special Edition released where choices were introduced, making this game a complex branching story with many endings. Because of this, this edition couldn't include the opening "Watashi no Ningyou" and the seventh story from Sakagami's point of view. As a replacement, a new seventh story was added. To diversify the experience, the public was invited to submit scenarios and 13 works were selected. A 2010 Final Version includes new art made with real actors, and the ability to switch tachie with previous art styles. You also have the ability to replace them with the ones of your liking such as your own illustrations and photos. Two new scenarios were added: "Kyoushi Hen" and "Seito Hen", and one was deleted: "Amedama Baa-san". |
