In 386 AD, the kingdom of Northern Wei was attacked by several neighbors, the most dangerous of which were the Rouran people. North China, once a rich region, was devastated by wars. In order to protect the northern border, the king Tai Wu ordered the general Liu Chengyi to form an elite squad of soldiers to attack Rouran. Hua Mulan's father was chosen. He is already an old man, and Hua Mulan's brother is too young. So Hua Mulan decides to go to war instead of the father. There is one problem, however: Hua Mulan is a girl. Based on a popular classic Chinese legend, this feels like a traditional Chinese RPG, but its gameplay is a departure from the typical turn-based style of the genre. It's an action RPG in which you attack enemies directly on the field, without being taken to a separate battle screen. You attack by targeting the enemy and clicking on it. You have AI-controlled partners who will help you in battles. You also receive many quests and visit towns where you can buy weapons and supplies. |
