Poetry in Motion II The Voyager Company 1995

When Ron Mann's superb film Poetry in Motion came to CD-ROM, it created a whole new genre: the dramatic paring of written text and video performance. Here was a new way to experience poetry: viewers could read a poem, watch it being performed by the author, or just sit back and let the words wash over them. The result was a breakthrough for people dissatisfied with the single dimension of the printed page and a perfect tonic for anyone who thinks poetry is dull. The second volume brings twenty-four stirring performances to light for the first time ever. Some poets are familiar from the first volume: Helen Adam, Amiri Baraka, Ted Berrigan, Charles Bukowski, Jim Carroll, Robert Creeley, Diana de Prima, Allen Ginsberg, John Giorno, Michael Ondaatje, Gary Snyder, and Anne Waldman. For others, this is a CD-ROM premiers: Tom Clark, Spalding Gray, Bob Holman, Rose Lesniak, Cookie Mueller, Eileen Myles, Alice Notley, Joel Oppenheimer, Peter Orlovsky, Pedro Pietri, Jerome Rothenberg, and Philip Whalen. In nine additional interviews hear Charles Bukowski explain why "fiction is an improvement upon life," Diane di Prima talk about discovering Keats, Jim Carroll admit to following his idol Frank O'Hara through the streets of New York, and more.
