A remake of a two-dimensional platform game released in 1986. The player assumes the role of the titular Wonder Boy – a caveman whose girlfriend was kidnapped by the Dark King. The protagonist attempts to rescue Tina while also he tries to take care of the villain. You can play as Tom-Tom or Tanya, revised versions of the characters or play as the original Boy. The gameplay features traveling through various levels, jumping between platforms and fighting encountered enemies like bees, spiders and penguins. It has brand new 40 levels complete with new diversive level themes: Village, Coral, Snowfield, Lava, Dungeon. From time to time the player faces bosses as well. In the eggs scattered across the levels the player can find power-ups that gives the protagonist new abilities (such as temporary invincibility) and weapons. It has new enemies and hazards: Seagull, Monkey, Snowman, Penguin, Hermit Crab, Flying Fish, Blower Fish, Skeleton, Ghost, Zombie, Spiky Rocks, Arrow Traps, Rolling Snowball, Grounded Catapults, Foothold Traps, Jumping Fireballs, Falling Spears. In comparison to the original, the game has much richer graphics – the character models and environment textures were replaced and the title received additional animations and light effects that accompany some of the attacks.
