At Bat jAmBone Comics / Crystalvision Software 1995

Interactive comic book story about a kids' baseball team for Windows 3.1 and Macintosh, on CD-ROM. Meet Rudy; it’s the bottom of the ninth with two outs, her team is down in points, and she’s up against the best pitcher in the county. Here comes the pitch. Smack! It's a home run to win the game. Then meet Rudy's little brother Joey, who knows everything about baseball except how to play. While Rudy tries to teach Joey the fundamentals of hitting and fielding, you'll learn as much as he does. You'd better pay attention because at the end of the comic it's Joey’s turn in the spotlight, and your turn to help him get a hit. All you have to do is remember what Rudy taught him. If you do it correctly, he'll bring home the championship; if you can't remember, he'll have spent all that time at practice for nothing. You can have fun with this program while actually learning a great deal about how to play baseball. It’s easy to get around, and there are many different ways to explore. You can choose to follow the story, play one of six games, or learn baseball history, baseball trivia, and baseball jokes. There's even a sing-along – click on different team members as they hang out of the bus for classics like Take Me Out to the Ballgame. The graphics are in true comic book style, and by clicking on the dialog bubbles you can hear and read continuous conversation between the characters. Finally, it's worth noting that Rudy is a girl (and not the only girl on the team at that).
