Treasure Seekers: The Enchanted Canvases Artogon Games / Big Fish Games Inc 2009

Nelly lost contact with her brother Tom, after he started to explore the Romanian castle of Totenkraft. She decides to go after him, and after arriving at the place she discovers a gallery of magical paintings, allowing the viewer to enter the canvas and walk around the painted scenery. This is a hidden object game with adventure elements. As the other Artogon's games using the same engine, it forgoes the traditional list of objects, showing instead a ring with gray pictures around certain hotspots on the screen. Most of the time, the objective is the same as in the previous titles: to drag and drop the required objects from the surrounding scenery into the circles. But some updates where made to the design in this installment. Now there's an inventory at the bottom, alongside the hint button and a list of pending tasks. The cursor is contextual, changing shape to indicate what form of interaction can be made when clicking. It turns into a hand for collectible objects, a talking mask to start a dialog with a character, gears when hovering over one of the ring hotspots, and into a jigsaw puzzle piece for one of the separate puzzle windows. Multiple windows and picture rings can remain opened at the same time on the screen. The inventory at the bottom works like in any point-and-click adventure, its contents can be dragged and dropped on logical places to solve puzzles. The puzzle windows must be solved to recover some necessary object, and generally present some sort of mechanism that must be manipulated directly. The hint button shows the exact position of one of the required items, but takes some time to recharge after use. The skip button appears and starts to slowly fill after opening one of the puzzle windows. There are two difficulty modes available at the start, casual and advanced, the main difference being the time that takes to recharge the hint and skip buttons.
