Rema The Truth [J] Studio Alex, Ehrgeiz / KSS 1996

This is a Japanese sci-fi anime adventure from the makers of the Lunar series of games. It has a visual novel style and a fantastic soundtrack which reminds a lot of the work of Keishi Yonao on Yu-No and Asuka 120%. In the year 2052, in the midst of a world in political crisis, a young man known only as T.C. stumbles into an encounter with a mysterious android named Rema. Built to resemble a young woman, Rema has the capacity to learn and experience human emotions but appears to be a blank slate. T.C. impulsively decides to help her escape from the people who are pursuing her, and they set out on a journey that will shape the person she grows into becoming. Rema plays like other visual novels; the story is largely linear, and the player is able to choose actions from a mouse-driven menu. The story is presented via detailed traditionally-painted artwork using the character designs of Toyō Ashida and Isamu Imakake, with music by reknowned composers Masahiro Kajihara, Keishi Yonao, Ryū Takami, and the late Ryū Umemoto.
