Mangchi The Hammer Boy [K] Digital Dream Studios / Candy Global Media 2004

This platformer is based on the series of comics of the same name (apparently, known only at home). The game was published in 2004 - at the same time with the full-length cartoon, drawn in anime-style and bearing the same name. There is a clever and courageous fair-haired boy who is armed with a huge magic hammer, and also knows how to drive an airplane; One day, while flying his vehicle, he “stumbles” into the battle of two airships (namely ships): the first of them, flooded with pirates, takes the second one to the boarding, where the beautiful big-eyed princess is trying (unsuccessfully) to protect pointed-headed creatures. A squad of pirates is commanded by a giant robot with a square head and several of its "henchmen", looking rather strange. The boy with the help of his hammer quickly deals with the pirates, with the "henchmen", but the robot itself is too tough for him. The latter takes the princess to his ship - and our hero tries to follow him, clinging to the boarding rope - but the robot drops him down, after which the boy wakes up in a certain "Sleeping city", resembling a post-apocalyptic New York, almost completely flooded . From here he will have to begin his journey with the aim of freeing the kidnapped princess - which will occupy five levels. It's clearly aimed at a children's audience. The hero has only three "lives" (although it will be possible to extract additional ones later) and a certain amount of health (depicted in the form of three hearts at the top of the screen); There are very few enemies, and the first of them do not appear at the beginning of the game, but the main danger here is not enemies, but objects of the environment: there are a huge number of ways to die instantly. In particular, at the first level, we have to run and jump on narrow surfaces surrounded by water, which ends in a momentary death for a boy, - and it is necessary not just to “not take extra steps to the side,” but also to jump holes in the floorings, and wait until the powerful jets of water run out, sometimes raising sewer manholes on our way. There will be many other dangers: giant swaying metal balls, cars floating in water, on the roofs of which it is impossible to linger for a long time, because they tend to sink, and so on. Some obstacles are quite capable of taking away part of the health stock - for example, electric fencing, through which you will have to jump in a non-trivial way (yes, sometimes jumps are required along oblique, and even more complex, trajectories). sometimes elevating manholes on our way. In the event of the loss of "life", the character is reborn at a visually unnoticed "control point" - as a rule, not far from the place of death. After all the “lives” have been spent, the level will have to be restarted; The latter is available an infinite number of times, but the ability to save the game in an arbitrary place is missing. Bonuses are represented by blue crystals - after collecting a certain amount of them you can get an extra "life". Opponents are rare, and battles with them are not very difficult, although there is one unusual circumstance: when approaching the adversary it is necessary to strike with a hammer (it seems that the hero does not rely on other weapons), always remaining outside the orange circle, "encircling" space around the villain - in other words, this can only be done in a jump. In addition to ordinary opponents, there will also be bosses (creatures with a solid supply of health, displayed on the screen in the form of a “life bar”), battles with which no longer have the mentioned limitation.
