Mortimer is an action/puzzle game for children by Lucasarts. The player can play as Sid or Sally, and rides Mortimer the giant snail to thwart the evil Lodius. Lodius stole the medallion and turned all the animals into statues. The player must revitalise the animals in each of the five action levels, and then, using hints from the freed animals, answer a riddle to pass to the next level. You zip along just above ground level aboard an over-sized gastropod equipped with a computer, the "Revitascope," and the "Slimetron Muckchucker 2000," in addition to wings and propellers. Through crosshairs on his windshield(!), the player takes aim at animals and birds and blasts them - with bursts of life-restoring energy. Occasionally, the player takes aim and shoots a variety of evil flying creatures sent by Lodius. The game uses the same flight engine as Rebel Assault so the flights are "on rails" and you cannot control where to go, you are on predetermined path and shoot what comes at you. |
