An interactive mystery-adventure game, this puts players in the shoes of teenage super-sleuth Nancy Drew as she investigates a string of mysterious events at a southwestern ranch. The game is based on the 1931 novel, The Secret of Shadow Ranch. The book is the best- selling Nancy Drew title of all time and the first of the original "yellow-spine" series to be turned into an interactive game. Nancy Drew sets out to enjoy a long overdue vacation at Shadow Ranch in Arizona, but upon arrival she quickly finds herself involved in a baffling mystery. The ranch has been maliciously damaged and is being haunted by a phantom horse. The local townspeople believe the ghostly animal is carrying out the curse of Dirk Valentine, a romantic outlaw who was hanged for his crimes before he could fulfill a promise to his sweetheart. Based on a rumor that a treasure was hidden on the grounds by Valentine, Nancy turns her focus to that critical clue as she embarks on a challenging search for answers through a land full of rattlesnakes, hidden mineshafts and crumbling ghost towns. There's 20+ hours of sleuthing in expansive outdoor environments with the ability to saddle up and ride a horse, and go barrel-racing. You have the use of an in-game cell phone, Internet access, and email. A "Second Chance" feature allows players to take risks without starting over. Optional Phone-a-friend hints are designed to help struggling detectives navigate the game. Two difficulty settings allows players of all skill levels to solve the mystery. | ||
