Help Blaster, G.C., and the robotic rodent, Mel, defeat evil Dr. Zero in Math Blaster Mission 3: Space Defenders!. Dr. Zero is threatening to destroy the planet Omega unless he receives three million kwontos. Previously released as Math Blaster Ages 8-9, this single-player educational adventure features a mix of 2D and 3D animation. The task is to capture Zero's computer bugs, while playing a variety of math games during the quest. Defeated bugs are reprogrammed to build a Rube Goldberg-style trap to catch the evil protagonist. Math skills include multiplication and division, fractions, decimals and percentages, estimation and rounding numbers, identifying equivalents, measurement, reading graphs and tables, geometric figures, congruency, symmetry, problem solving and logic. Games have five skill levels each, either automatically attained or manually selected. Domino Bridge requires matching equivalent numbers on dominoes to build a bridge before the bugs do. Bug Hunt requires you to maneuver G.C. through a maze, protecting her from bugs by correctly identifying those carrying equations within a specific range. Pulleys and switches are the focus in Circuit Quest, which open doors and toggle electrical fields off to collect computer chips, and Musical Math centers on properly matching shapes and geometric measurements to create a melody. After successful completion of the games, players go to an area where all the bugs have been stored. Solving a 3-part word problem reprograms the bugs, each with a specific function, so they can be used in traps. An additional feature, familiar to fans of the Blaster series, is the awarding of Smartpoints, which can be redeemed online for prizes. Bonus activities include tangram puzzles, a free-form math board with numbers, letters, and geometric shapes, printable math puzzles, and a demo of Jurassic Park III: Digital Dinosaur Action Pack. |
