Zoboomafoo: Creature Quest Brighter Child Interactive, LLC 2002

Based on PBS Kids' television series, Zoboomafoo: Creature Quest is a PC treasure hunt girdled with educational games and activities for young children. Staged inside Animal Junction, children interact with Zoboo and the Kratt Brothers while completing eight different activity games and watching video clips containing animal facts from the show. Each completed game earns one piece of a map that leads players to hidden treasure in Animal Junction. Activity games can be set to play at three difficulty levels and include matching, pattern and number recognition as well as a coloring activity. Navigating Animal Junction with the computer mouse, children can click on different animals and items to initiate actions. Some animals will lead children to the games that earn map pieces. For example, by clicking on an animated coyote, players are lead to the Counting Coyote game that asks children to match numbers, while the shadow of a giraffe takes kids to a campout where pictures are matched with their shadow shapes. Color recognition is emphasized as players use a tenrec's quills to pop bubbles of particular colors, and pattern recognition is taught with a tongue-thrusting chameleon. As map pieces are earned, they are stored and accessed by a basket icon. Clicking the basket displays a jigsaw puzzle screen and by working the puzzle, children can find the location of the buried treasure. An included coloring activity features paintable pictures of different animal habitats and animal stamps to use within the pictures. Each picture can also be printed for children who prefer a crayon medium. Other features include familiar Zoboomafoo songs and animal videos, a creature fact book, and cut scenes of Zobooland.
