Adventures

All The Delicate Duplicates The Space, One to One Development Trust - Dreaming Methods, Mez Breeze Design [top]

This is a single player first-person narrative game that toys with the concept of time: reality isn't stable or linear here, but unfurls across a storyworld that bends, flexes and (in some instances) duplicates. John, a computer engineer and single father, inherits a collection of arcane objects from Mo, his mysterious relative. Over time, John and his daughter Charlotte begin to realise that these objects have unusual physical properties – and that the more they are exposed to them, the more their reality and memories appear to change. Features: Haunting freeform environments with open exploration; Non-linear narrative that pieces together through interactive discoveries in the game-world and a text-based backstory; Soundscaped (yep, it's a technical term *cough*) by acclaimed audio creator Chris Joseph; VR version launching late 2017; Commissioned by The Space; Supported by Tumblr through their International Digital Media and Arts Prize; David-Lynch-like intrigue (if we do say so ourselves) via a variable storyline. Prepare to have your storytelling perceptions stretched beyond the "real" as you (think you) know it.

Profound Red: A Carol Reed Mystery MDNA Games [top]

Often amateur detective Carol Reed is called upon to figure out whodunit. But in her next case, the victim seems to have dunit herself. But no Carol Reed mystery is ever as simple as it first appears, as gamers will discover in this 12th game in the series. Carol Reed is called in to investigate a suicide text received at hotel where her friend works, signed simply "Louise". Since there's no one by that name connected with the hotel, it's up to Carol to track down its mysterious origin. Her investigation soon leads to "a woman in her 40s, who has recently supposedly committed suicide by jumping off a cliff." And yet in retracing the steps of the dead woman's final days, a picture begins forming of "a creative, vivacious woman who prepared games for her boyfriend – not of a person who was about to take her own life." Perhaps the case isn't so cut-and-dried after all. Refusing to fix what ain't broke, Profound Red follows its predecessors' lead in using a photographic slideshow presentation with simple point-and-click controls, offering a helpful tutorial for new players, a goal-based journal and hint system. Players will once again snoop around scenic Swedish environments, both indoors and out, and converse with the locals (in English) in pursuit of the truth.

Four types of actions for each hotspot (Look, Pick up, Use, and Talk) and dialogues with multiple choices (and full of funny answers to try). This time we become 16 year old Sophie – a novice alchemist who inherited two things after her late grandmother: a sizable workshop and a mysterious, talking book. One day, the book takes the form of a woman named Plachta and asks our heroine for help in recovering lost memories. Thus begins Sophie's adventure, during which she will explore numerous colorful locations, collect ingredients for alchemical recipes and fight with various creatures. One of the main novelties in the series is a day and night cycle, which significantly influences the type of encountered enemies and NPCs.

Captain Disaster In: Death Has A Million Stomping Boots Captain Disaster [top]

Release Date: TBA Captain Disaster takes a job delivering a package from Acturus-1 to Proboscis Major - having no idea what's inside it, and a condition of the job is not to ever look inside the package. After dealing with the intensely draconian customs officials on Acturus-1 and several odd aliens, the intrepid captain had to defeat space pirates and convince a planet-eating monster to un-eat a planet before making the delivery - which is when he finds out that, if not stopped, his current employers are about to wreak havoc across the galaxy using the contents of the package he has just delivered along with a lot of sneaky planning... Using all of his wits (such as they are) and his ship's computer (who is helpful... every so often), CD must save the galaxy from a threat no-one knew existed. Exactly what the million stomping boots are and how they come into it is something you'll have to find out for yourself when you play the game! It has retro 320x200 resolution graphics, an original music score (plus one or two previously released tracks), and is fully voiced with possibly the galaxy's first planet-hopping heroic nitwit with a Brummy accent. There's lots of references to various adventure games and science fiction series, and loads of daft humour in the true Captain Disaster style, with some references to the short stories. Plus, it has planets to explore, bureaucracy to defeat, and strange aliens to understand (or not).

Return of the Obra Dinn Lucas Pope [top]

Release Date: TBA From the creator of border control hit Papers, Please, this is a 3D, first-person mystery game set on an East Indian merchant ship in 1808, with an art style inspired by old Mac games. In 1802, the merchant ship 'Obra Dinn' set out from London for the Orient with over 200 tons of trade goods. Six months later it hadn't met its rendezvous point at the Cape of Good Hope and was declared lost at sea. Early this morning of October 14th, 1808, the Obra Dinn drifted into port with sails damaged and no visible crew. As insurance adjustor for the East India Company's London Office find means to board the ship and recover the captain's logbook for assessment. It experiments with rendering, story, and a few technical features. It's a compelling mystery with suspense and twists in the limited space of an old merchant sailing ship. It won't be the typical 'collect items and look for clues' structure. It's grittier and less cartoon-like than those old games.

Routine Lunar Software [top]

Release Date: Mar 20 A science-fiction survival horror game where the story focuses on discovering the causes behind the staff disappearance at the Lunar Research Station. In the game, the player travels through dark and claustrophobic chambers of the facility, gradually uncovering its secrets. The main item the player uses throughout the game is a special fixing tool which resembles a pistol. The player can modify this tool using disks which can be found around the station, thus the device can be used also as a weapon. The creators placed special emphasis on a convincing atmosphere the experience comes with, and the survival aspect of it. The latter means that the interface is minimal and each death of the protagonist is permanent. Many parts of the virtual station are randomly generated, such as different threats or the locations of NPCs. As a result, each playthrough can be completely different.

St. Christopher's School Lockdown, The Classroom Graffiti Productions [top]

Release Date: Mar 17 This is a subversive, irreverent point-and-click adventure set in a prestigious British institute. We strive to provide gamers with a stunning hand-drawn visual art style, thoughtful puzzles and minigames, and memorable writing. Our biggest departure from other games, however, comes from the game's main subject: political unrest in a world of limited of options. The prestigious St. Christopher's School has been seized by its student body. Roughly two hundred teenagers (and even a few primary schoolers) have taken their own campus by storm, staging a lock-in protest against severe new financial rulings. Barricaded within the building and facing pressure from the police, the government and the media, the young St. Christopher's crusaders are going to find out how quickly things can go from bad to worse. Episode 1 follows Kayleigh, an outsider to St. Chris. Due to delicate circumstances involving debt, blackmail and robbery, she finds herself seeking refuge within the school. However, she soon comes to realize that she might have been better off outside. It wouldn't be a point-and-click adventure game without puzzles, and the puzzles in The St. Christopher's school lock down are being designed with multiple solutions. We know first hand how frustrating it can be to try to guess the esoteric item combination solution the developer is pushing for, and believe that by having a few approaches to each puzzle gamers will avoided dreaded unsolveable dead-ends. Beyond the puzzles, the game will be filled with a vast variety of minigames, including two recurring ones. One of them is a game you will play against other students at the school, in the form of a trading voodoo doll battle game. The other is mood-balancing card matching game; as Kayleigh deals with the ongoing struggles of the school and her mood edges into either mania or depression, it has negative effects on the gameplay. With the card game, you are given a phrase, and you need to pick a response in the mood you want for Kayleigh. We've estimated the final product will have around eight hours of gameplay - some of these puzzles are rather tricky, and you will want to do a lot of exploring to learn what, exactly, is going on behind the scenes within the school... particularly since you will need to choose a side to support.

TREX and Muscle SAM: A New Kickstart! Miciosegone Games [top]

Release Date: TBA This is the new installment in the "TREX and Muscle Sam" universe, born in 2009 with the game "TREX and Muscle Sam: Big Trouble in SPF" and deepened with the Italian comic series in 2010 comprised of 25 issues. This new game is a reboot of the original adventure game. It will broaden the universe created in "Big Trouble in SPF" and the "TREX and Muscle Sam" comics, featuring a new story with both old and new characters. The two protagonists, TREX and Muscle Sam, are the sons of two legends of the tag team wrestling working in the same company where their fathers had a fundamental role in its creation. Unlike their fathers, TREX and Sam are not very successful on the ring and don't have many fans. TREX is an egocentric maniac that tries desperately to achieve success, but is actually an insecure nerd on the inside. He's Muscle Sam childhood friend and he's one of the few people that can understand what he says. Muscle Sam most distinctive tract is that he's an anthropomorphic cat, but it's not a weird occurrence in a world where everyone impersonates their gimmick. He's not a very talkative guy, mostly because very few people can understand what he says. What Sam thinks is a mystery: sometimes he acts like a very brilliant person, sometimes like an instinctive animal. Unlike the previous free adventures from the developer, this is a commercial game and will ensure hours of play (between 7-10) and dozens of originals characters, locations, puzzles and entertaining dialogues.

Release Date: Jun 1 Tsioque (pronounced /tsɪɒk/) is an animated adventure game inspired by classic 80s and 90s point and click titles. Check. Darkness? Check. Suspense? Check! What more could you ask for? LOTS of 2D animation – all characters and items are hand-animated, frame-by-frame, old-school-style. Beautiful, hand-drawn backgrounds. Fully voiced dialogue tracks. A living, breathing environment, full of hidden interactions. Exceptional soundtrack by Edward Harrison (NEOTOKYO, LUCKY DAY FOREVER) and Elle Kharitou, dynamically illustrating the gameplay and adjusted to your every action. Release Date: TBA A young, idealistic writer attempts various esoteric practices, including astral projection, in a journey for self discovery and as research for his novel. As he manages to leave his very body, an odd sense of displacment posessed him and he woke up in the recently deceased shell of a young warrior on another planet within another dimension. Little did he know that this energetic rift that hijacked his astral body was a reoccuring interdimensional event that transports lower astral creatures and so called "lost souls" to posess and resurrect the fallen in the otherwise utopic world of Shavra. A cataclysmic event that happens every 700 years to rince the universe of useless energy such as lost souls. The symarian necromancers, guardians of the dead, mistake you for the messiah sent to end this catastrophic reoccurence once and for all. Will you find the means that grant you passage back to your own body? What secrets will the land of Symaria, the desert nation of Shavra, hold for you.
