Asylum Senscape [top]

Release Date: TBA This horror game from the maker of Scratches takes place inside the Hanwell Mental Institute. It seems to have a life of its own and was designed from the ground up after real blueprints of vintage asylums. It may be one of the largest virtual structures ever created for a game. For decades, it has been housing patients of many ages with diverse degrees of mental illness. The institute admits feeble-minded men and women who are not fit for society under excellent conditions and nursing, with a high recovery rate thanks to advanced treatments pioneered by the universally acclaimed psychologist Dr. Ann Ebersbacher. Even patients with extreme mental disorders have shown positive progress and are now able to enjoy a full life inside the walls of the institute. Many others have returned to their families, ready to face new challenges and experiences in their improved conditions.

Boïnihi: The K'i Codex The Icehouse [top]

Release Date: TBA In 2062, the people of Terra discovered the Blue Matter System. With the help of this new technology, they were able to explore the galaxy in search for signs of intelligent life. One of these astronauts has been wandering through space for four years, and finally lands on a moon with no name, where a mysterious man used to live alone. Boïnihi was his name, and he was a solitary Talifan who had luckily survived the terrible events of Day Zero, long, long ago. Like ASA and Caytph before it, Boïnihi is a point-and-click first-person adventure with 360-degree panning, packed full of puzzles to solve. Unlike those games, however, Boïnihi is meant to be shorter, easier, and more accessible than its large-scale predecessors, though as anyone who has played those games can attest, "easier" is a relative term. Puzzle fans can still rest assured that the game will be challenging enough as you journey through another exotic faraway land. With four different regions inspired by Asian countries and mythologies to explore plus the K'i codex to translate, inspired by the famous Voynich manuscript along the way, the experience should provide more than three hours of gameplay.

Lingua Magicka BoomBox [top]

Release Date: Jan 31 This exists on an alternate Earth where magic developed side-by-side with technology. The ability for Casters to use magic on this Earth is directly linked to language. Words are imbued with power and act as catalysts to complete even the simplest of spells. In an effort to regulate and control the use of magic, the world's largest nations have created protective wards along their borders that restrict and regulate the use of magic. One of these regulations is that magic only works through the country's native language. If a Caster wishes to utilize his magic in a foreign country, he must, at the very least, take the time to learn some of the native language. You play as Trist, a student of magic under the tutelage of Professor Esperanto. Trist wants to be able to see the world, but he must first master some basic terminology in the native languages for the cultures he wishes to travel to, or else he be able to work even the simplest of magic. Imagine if you had to wash your own dishes simply because you couldn't enchant the dish towel. What a nightmare. It offers a fun way to learn basic vocabulary in a number of languages. While it will not make you fluent in another language, it's a great starting point for kids or adults of all ages to begin their education and exposure to a foreign language. While navigating a magical 3D world, players will be able to highlight every object by pointing and clicking on it with the mouse, revealing their translated name and pronunciation, recorded by native speakers, specifically for this adventure.

God Eater 3 Shift / Bandai Namco Entertainment [top]

Release Date: Feb 8 An action RPG game that focuses on fighting against hordes of huge monsters in a post-apocalyptic world using a wide arsenal of weapons and attacks. This takes place many years after the events of the second entry in the series and takes us again to the distant future, in which humanity is on the verge of extinction due to the appearance of beasts known as Aragami. Regular armies proved to be ineffective against them, thus the task of defending humanity was given to the titular God Eaters – a specialized warriors wielding powerful weapons known as God Arc that are the only way to hurt monsters. Players act as one of such fighters, but when the game starts, something bad is going on with God Eaters, with many of them coming closer and closer to the dark side. It expands on the ideas featured in the previous games, being an action-RPG title with a camera placed behind our hero. During the campaign, our main activities are missions that usually come down to killing all Aragami in a certain location, and some of them feature additional objectives or things to hinder our progress, e.g. time limit. As such, gameplay revolves around combat, which is based on complex and arcade battle system known from previous entries in the franchise. Players can use a huge variety of weaponry and types of attacks, and battles themselves are fast-paced. There are some novelties added to this scheme, like the ability to use two weapons at once, each held in one hand. Additionally, maps are much bigger and more varied, while enemies have more diversified attacks. This forces players to change tactics more often than in previous God Eater titles. It offers a huge campaign, which can be completed solo or in online cooperation mode. The game was designed in a way that allows other players to join or leave our session at any moment, meaning we can get help only during the most difficult missions and play the rest of the game by ourselves. It's the first game of the series developed mainly for stationary platform instead of handheld devices. This resulted in higher quality visuals and bigger maps filled with more enemies.

Two more playable characters join the fray: Patty Fleur, a cheerful and tough young pirate girl in search of treasure, adventure… and her forgotten memories; Flynn Scifo, Yuri’s best friend and an Imperial Knight, now joins the rest on their journey. This is the tenth game in the Tales of... series. The game's story takes place in the world of Terca Lumireis. This world is largely sustained by "blastia", a technology from an ancient civilization which can be used to perform a variety of tasks including powering the barriers which keep cities safe from monsters and helping knights in battle. After a war ten years ago, the world has settled into a more or less peaceful state consisting of the Empire which rules the land and various guilds which formed for those wishing to live outside the Empire's rule. The main character in the story is Yuri Lowell, a former Imperial Knight who now helps solve peoples problems in the lower quarter. After a blastia which regulates water flow in the lower quarter is stolen, Yuri attempts to catch the thief however ends up being thrown in jail instead. He then meets a mysterious girl named Estelle while escaping; she is coincidentally searching for Yuri's childhood friend Flynn, and from here their adventure begins. The gameplay is similar to other Japanese RPG's and games in the series. The player controls Yuri as he explores various locations and the story unfolds. Often opponents (both human and monster) can be seen on the screen and coming into contact will begin a battle. The battle system used is an updated variation from that in Tales of the Abyss. Battles are in real time and the player can move anywhere within the limited battle area. The player can run/walk, jump, guard, perform various basic attacks, utilize artes (more powerful magic attacks, however these are limited by the amount of the players technical points), and set the strategy computer controlled party members will use. Combo attacks are also possible where a series of normal and arte attacks are strung together to deal more damage to the enemy and prevent a counterattack. Successfully completing a battle allows players to level up. As players level up new skills are learned, attack abilities increase, hit points increase, and so on.
