This is the 13th main game in the Touhou series and it is once again a 2D vertically scrolling shoot'em up danmaku/bullet hell game. The player can choose one from four characters: Reimu, Marisa, Sanae and Youmu. The action takes place after Undefined Fantastic Object. Gensokyo has problem with Divine spirits, caused by the resurrection of a saint, Toyosatomimi no Miko. It has typical danmaku gameplay. The chosen heroine flies forward, shoots enemies (Youmu can slash with sword), and avoids plenty of bullets. The game uses a bombs/lives system similar to Undefined Fantastic Object, based on collecting Divine Spirits. The player can continue from the place where the character dies, but the game has a limited of continues, similar to The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Several of the previous games have an unlimited continues, but require a complete level restart. |
