Battle Engine Aquila Lost Toys / Encore Software 2003

This takes place on Earth-like planet called Allium in the Porrum system. Over recent decades, dramatic changes to the climate have caused the sea level to rise severely. The rising waters have reduced landmasses considerably and packed the population into ever decreasing habitable areas. Land is scarce and, as such, a valuable commodity. Before the waters rose, the Ampeloprasum Archipelago was historically occupied by two races, the Forseti and Muspell. Their history has long been dotted with skirmishes, conflicts and all out wars but the Sohra Treaty of 1174 was hoped to put an end to hostilities. It set aside the island of Kensor to be a demilitarised no-go zone to both races. Of course, the increasing necessity for dry land has meant that the old treaties are looking shakier and shakier and it's only a matter of time before tensions will once again result in war... The Forseti have recently developed the most advanced combat vehicle in existence, the Battle Engine Aquila. The Aquila is both a four-legged mechanized tank and a combat jet, it is capable of switching modes at will. You play the character of Hawk Winter, a Forseti cargo loader operator who has been conscripted because of his piloting skills. Battle Engine Aquila is a mechanized shooter taking place in a larger battlefield. You play only a single, yet important, role in a larger war effort. A large part of the gameplay consists of supporting and being supported by your allied forces. You will have to fight navel, air, and ground forces in both modes of your battle engine. There are, by the end, 4 different types of Battle Engine that one may choose to pilot: Pulsar, Blazer, Lancer and Sniper. There are multiple weapons that are available for the Battle Engines that can be used. The Sniper Battle Engine only has 1 airborne weapon (the others have two each), the Vulcan Cannon, but it is the only ship that can engage a stealth mode, rendering it invisible. This capability drains the energy of the Battle Engine, in a similar fashion to the Jet Mode.
