Designed to capture the full experience of big-game hunting, this simulates hunting sessions complete with safety, legal ramifications, rules, regulations, scouting, tracking, and challenges. Each of the four hunting regions, Arizona, British Columbia, Louisiana, and Wyoming, has a Staging Area and three Hunting Areas. Use the Staging Area to get information on the hunting locales from the expert at the lodge, scout out the areas in your vehicle, or get a briefing on regulations, restrictions, and legal hours from the game warden at his station. Three modes of gameplay, Quick Hunt, Campaign, or Challenge, offer unique hunting sessions, as well as three levels of difficulty. All regions contain a Private Property area where you can establish permanent blinds, feeders, plant corn or clover, or scout, but only after receiving permission from the landowner after agreeing to rid the area of at least five varmints (e.g., coyotes, squirrels, opossums, rabbits, or raccoons) prior to hunting season. This Scouting Season occurs only in campaign hunts and sets up future hunts where you reap the benefits of your pre-season planning. Campaign hunts feature three seasons in each of the four regions, with a small cash allowance provided for outfitting gear, weapons, and accessories. Quick hunts have no time limits during eight hunting seasons, with pre-selected gear, tags, weapons, and a small stipend to change out equipment if desired. The ten progressively harder Challenge hunts have specific goals and must be played in sequential order. Species in big-game hunt sessions include caribou, elk, bear, moose, mountain goats, deer, and more. Additional features include first- and third-person perspectives depending on the hunting mode, penalty points for breaking rules (accumulate ten and your hunt is over), video hunting, trophy awards, two target-range mini-games, a progress screen, and a record book for highest scores in campaign and challenge hunts. The available arsenal contains 13 firearms and three bows, 25 calls and lures, and 23 types of ammunition. |
