Redemption Cemetery 4: Salvation Of The Lost Runtime Error

Postby Ali Akbar » Sat Jul 25, 2020 1:10 pm

I downloaded it from here https://www.legendsworld.net/site/downl ... rror=17000, and whenever I try to install it gives the following errors:

Image

Image

I checked the logs in Event Viewer and it showed this:
Faulting application name: RedemptionCemeterySalvationLostCE.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x2a425e19
Faulting module name: RedemptionCemeterySalvationLostCE.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x2a425e19
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0001f242
Faulting process id: 0x554
Faulting application start time: 0x01d662811d631004
Faulting application path: G:\Hidden Object Games\Redemption Cemetery Series Collection\Redemption Cemetery 4 - Salvation Of The Lost Collector's Edition (2013)\RedemptionCemeterySalvationLostCE.exe
Faulting module path: G:\Hidden Object Games\Redemption Cemetery Series Collection\Redemption Cemetery 4 - Salvation Of The Lost Collector's Edition (2013)\RedemptionCemeterySalvationLostCE.exe
Report Id: 64149b0c-ce74-11ea-a0b5-dc0ea13f1413

I tried disabling DEP (I added the game's installer to the exception list) but it didn't work. I googled the error and apparently it is caused by a trojan virus called sub7 (got info from here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... -error-216). I tried scanning my system with symantec and removed all the malware it found (which were only 3) but still the problem persists.
So I downloaded the game from Lee-GT's official website, extracted it and installed the game, (a bit off topic, but some of Lee-GT's installers, legacy ones especially, can be opened with winrar, including Redemption Cemetery 4: Salvation Of The Lost's installer) after launching the games gave this error 'the application caused the runtime to terminate in an unusual way'. So I uninstalled the game and tried to open it's installer with winrar which gave the following error 'archive is corrupt'.
I can't seem to understand if it is a problem with my windows (some corrupt/infected system file) or is it a problem with the game's installers, which would be a coincidence since both installers are not working. I really want to play this game and I'm really not up for reinstalling windows, so if this is a problem with the game's installer, then is there any alternative, or if it is a problem with my windows (virus or corrupt file) then any advice on what should I do, since the symantec scanner has deleted all the malware it found. :thanks: in advance

I get no virus notifications from the exe. Looks like the game has problems running on Win10. See here - http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/730927.page
Try running it with administrator privileges.

Well, I have no idea what happened, but the installer works perfectly fine when running it from the desktop (before I was running the installer from an external hard drive
Porus wrote:Faulting application path: G:\Hidden Object Games\Redemption Cemetery Series Collection\Redemption Cemetery 4 - Salvation Of The Lost Collector's Edition (2013)\RedemptionCemeterySalvationLostCE.exe
This is really , I am going to try running the installer from the external hard drive again, and if it doesn't work, then maybe it's a problem with my external hard drive.

EDIT: Just confirmed, the game installs fine through the external hard drive too. The runtime error in the installer is gone and the game launches properly, I still have no idea what the problem was, but I did notice one change in my system after scanning/fixing it with symantec, my C: drive (in which windows is installed) doesn't show the windows logo on top of it anymore.

The runtime error is back :x, it occurs when I launch the game.
Image

Then when I press ok it shows this
Image

Program has stopped working means 'check Event Viewer' and I did, this is what it showed:

Faulting application name: RedemptionCemetery_SalvationOfTheLost_CE.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x516d69d4
Faulting module name: RedemptionCemetery_SalvationOfTheLost_CE.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x516d69d4

Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\LeeGT-Games\Redemption Cemetery 4 - Salvation Of The Lost Collector's Edition\RedemptionCemetery_SalvationOfTheLost_CE.exe
Report Id: 672d32ae-d03c-11ea-8899-dc0ea13f1413

I have tried a lot of things, repaired/reinstalled every c++ redistributable from 2005 to 2019, run the game as admin, tried different compatibility settings but it won't work.

The Exception code 0x40000015 means that an application caused an execution exception not managed during the shutdown, and as far as I know, it is MOSTLY related to corrupt windows files (right?), and I am getting two errors at the same time, one runtime error during launching, and one
error during closing (and both errors are different/unrelated I think ) meaning two problems at once. So, do I really have to do a clean install of windows to fix this, Is there any other way. :thanks: in advance

well ... old games don't like THIS "G:\Hidden Object Games\Redemption Cemetery Series Collection\Redemption Cemetery 4 - Salvation Of The Lost Collector's Edition (2013)\RedemptionCemeterySalvationLostCE.exe" aka long file and directory names
why not try a shorter name "G:\HOG\RCSC\RC4\RedemptionCemeterySalvationLostCE.exe"

:thanks:, I did try that :)

at the beginning it was not, which is what confused me, but the installer is fixed :), it is just the game that has the runtime error now :(, and as Scaryfun said
Scaryfun wrote:the game gave problems to a lot of users.
But you are right :), I should not have kept such a long directory name , will change that.

just checked this game was made for WinXp and its Ram support ... so why not try not running it in a WM with Winxp ... or try to check if the winxp compatibility options will work with this game

That lua error message seems like it doesn't like the long directory name as hfric suggested. Try just naming install directory a short name instead and renaming the install exe a small name as well.

Downloading from Chomikuj just to hopefully have a version cracked by someone else. Will troubleshoot.

I used the installers' default directory, it was this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\Redemption Cemetery 4 Salvation of the Lost Collectors (this was where the installer installs the game by default), so I thought about what you and hfric said and I tried installing the game into a smaller directory, C:\Games\Redemption Cemetery 4 - Salvation Of The Lost Collector's Edition, didn't work so I just tried C:\RC4\ (installed and tested it 10 minutes ago), and the game launches fine again without a runtime error :D. When hfric said
hfric wrote:well ... old games don't like THIS "G:\Hidden Object Games\Redemption Cemetery Series Collection\Redemption Cemetery 4 - Salvation Of The Lost Collector's Edition (2013)\RedemptionCemeterySalvationLostCE.exe" aka long file and directory names

I thought what you were trying to say is that I should install the game FROM a small directory , until I posted the log and Scaryfun clarified that I should install the game TO a small directory, another day I feel like the dumbest person on earth for not understanding the most basic things  :x, but I want to thank you all for your help, not just for this game but for everything: for reuploading missing game files on 4shared and MEGA, for helping me and other people find games they couldn't find by themselves, for helping me and other people solve issues about games that they couldn't by themselves, and most of all for preserving all these games and countless others, most of which can't be found/are lost on the internet :thanks: :thanks: :thanks:  :)
