Council, The Big Bad Wolf / Focus Home Interactive 2018

In 1793, players take the role of secret society member Louis de Richet after his invitation to a private island off the shores of England by the enigmatic Lord Mortimer. Joining him are a number of high profile guests, including Napoleon Bonaparte and President of the newly-formed United States of America, George Washington. The strange nature of this private reception goes beyond just the prestigious guests, as Richet's own mother has recently gone missing on the island, while each and every one of the colorful cast seems to have their own hidden agendas. It'll be up to you to figure out what happened, but you must trust no one while uncovering dire truths – no matter the cost to mind and body. Along the way, you will be forced to make hard-hitting decisions, develop an array of skills and directly impact how the story unfolds. Will you attempt to solve issues with diplomacy, delve into occultism to expand your historical and scientific knowledge, or play detective and see what others do not perceive? The choice is yours, with over 15 different skills available to tailor to your approach. Unlike most narrative adventures, there are permanent, long-lasting consequences to your decisions as you plunge into a tale of intrigue and manipulation in the style of a classic murder mystery. Rather than simply picking from stock dialogue options and binary action choices, this game revolves around maneuvering through character encounters using the unique Social Influence system. During your many personal conversations, skills and limited resources can be used to gain the upper hand and achieve the desired outcome. Players will be rewarded for their knowledge of each character’s psychological vulnerabilities and immunities, as well as their preparations made during prior exploration and investigation. Failure in such confrontations, however, does not end the game – nor does it allow you to retry. Instead, all decisions and their repercussions are final, and may even result in persistent physical disfigurements or mental traits that help or hinder the rest of the player’s adventure. There will be five installments - Episode 1: The Mad Ones (Mar 13), Episode 2: Hide and Seek (May 15) Louis de Richet is on Lord Mortimer’s island where he is still in search of his mother. Here he has met a collection of the most influential people alive, invited to help reshape the world. His investigation is interrupted by tragic events on the second night in the mansion, meaning Louis must answer to the enigmatic Lord Mortimer. Meanwhile the Spanish head of state joins the guests and brings news that threatens the stability of all of Europe - Louis must pick a side as factions begin to form. Continue your adventure, find your mother and live with the consequences of your choices. Episode 3: Ripples (July 24) characters will reach their breaking point, and a terrifying truth will be uncovered. Episode 4: Burning Bridges (Sep 25) Louis Richet’s journey continues as you decide his fate. It will explain allegiances on the island, rivalries will go up against each other, and your past will creep up on you while on Lord Mortimer’s island. The decisions you make in this episode will decide the fate of Louis and the world itself. Episode 5: Checkmate (Dec 4) As his assumptions about reality come crashing down around him, Louis de Richet must take the final steps on deciding his path – and the fate of the world. Democracies, monarchies, and the future of nations hang in the balance. This finale brings all your decisions, mistakes, and victories to the fore as Louis’ alliances, enemies, and family all come together for a climatic confrontation. Who will win, and can the De Richets survive the island in the end? Finish the adventure as kings fall, pawns rise, and the choice, as always, is yours.
