I don't like Monkey Island. LucasArts just following current retro-revival trend, not that they will stop producing bags of abominational manure with Star Wars label on it. If you want good adventure, look elsewhere. Grey Matter coming this May, for example.

I love Monkey Island ! I am definitely buying this when it comes out.

Monkey Island was one of the first adventure game series I played... What caught me was the humor of the series and the cruel ways you got stuck if you hadn't found something and went too far ahead without it.
Some people are like slinkies... They're not really good for much but they do bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

They're fine in 2D. 8)

I would like to see the remake of Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers (yeah, I know it's not a LA's game!). Now that would be really something else.

honestly i don't understand why you would remake sam and max or gabriel knight. both have very good voice acting, great graphics, and with a little tinkering able to be played in xp and up.

It's not that I can't play GK in XP, I can (and did). I would like to see its remake only because its graphics (as it is now) is totally out of date and in contrast with other game elements (great voices, wonderful story, nice gameplay, good puzzles,...)

same could have been said about Monkey Island and Tomb Raider 1 (Tomb Raider Anniversary) and yet they remade it... making both games more fun

Speaking of DOSBox... you can find GK 1 DOSBox installer (and DB installers for many more old games) at New Installers For Sierra Games.
I was only able to start GK 1 with this installer. Enrico Rolfi's program failed miserably (although his installer for GK 2 works like a charm).

GK1 (not the disk version but the CD) has a windows installer and windows exe, its strange they didn't recompile this to make it more compatible

dos exe had os problems (no sound but easily fixable with VDMSOUD)
win exe had midi and wave bugs (Works fine even on Vista in win98 compabilty and worked fine back in win98 and winxp but missing midi music and some audio sfx made some scenes look weird when suddenly one room didn't have sound)
so they followed the easy way and added a emu
