I use IE (since it's integrated into windows), and Firefox with zero add-ons not even java or flash. Firefox I use for searching and browsing sites that might be dangerous. The vast majority of malware and trojans are picked up from infected flash adds and/or through java. I fix computers for a living, which actually means I spend most of my day removing nasty maleware from customers computers.
EDIT: Oh, and I think it's been fixed. I don't know if IE has updated itself or if it was Avast updating its web-rep app what but today the 'enable/disable add-ons' prompt popped up for the first time in a long while. I check, but it was just the same ones as before, I hit OK and closed it, and it hasn't crashed since. Something's been changed causing the enable/disable prompt to pop-up again.
