Black Mesa Mod Out In Two Weeks (Sort Of)

Infamous Half-Life 1 remake called Black Mesa, for Half-Life 2 Source engine, which has been in development for eight years, will be playable and ready for public download for the first time on September 14. While the mod isn't quite finished, the team has decided to share what's been done thus far. You can play Half-Life all the way up to Lambda Core. "We believe this is a great way to provide a complete-feeling 8-10 hour experience with a solid ending, make our fans happy and help us make the best overall game possible. We are still working hard on Xen and BMDM..."

Thanks for the heads up. Looks great. It's approx. 7.2 GB unpacked.

This also requires the Source SDK Base 2007 tool to be installed (which means an additional 4.7 GB of space).

First off, Black Mesa is a stand-alone game, not a mod. That means you don't need Half-Life 2 nor any other source game installed, you just need (as Shattered pointed out) the Source SDK Base 2007.
I have no problem with running the game on STEAM... As soon as BM is installed, you just have to set STEAM to offline and and you'll be ready to play without having to log-in.

Anyway, for those of you STEAM haters :P I found this link: CLICK

PS: Black Mesa freaking rocks! The level of detail is amazing and the new models are just wow!

too bad its not finished and still in BETA stage , they said it will be done when it hits STEAM GREEN LIGHT and will have STEAMWORKS ... as of now its a 4h long demo that ends before XEN

They ought to try raising some funds thru 'Kickstarter' , the quality is definatly there.

The thing is Gabe gave them the official OK [plus a wink if after that they would work for them]for this and that it will be auto accepted in steam when include steamworks and he like what he saw

AFAIK, the developers confirmed that Xen will come later. Not this year, and it will include the Deathmatch portion as well.
