Dusk-12 - Deadly Zone ORION design / Buka Entertainment 2007

DUSK-12. The project to create the perfect soldier ran out of control, and turned itself into an incurable virus. The whole city is now under quarantine as the inhabitants transformed into blood-thirsty assassins. A group of Spec Ops. soldiers are now trying to uncover the secrets of those aborted experiments undertaken 4 years ago...
DUSK-12 is a state of the art first person shooter, full of action for single and multiplayer and hyper-realistic graphics full of details where the player will incarnate two heroes. One of the soldiers of the group, with an unknown past and one of the infected men with the virus, who has strength, speed and fortitude beyond human limits.
Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch are available in multiplay, along with a huge amount of different weapons and superpowers gather in this title that will be a revolution of the genre.

From Russian developers Orion brings this fairly ambitious horror cum sci-fi FPS entry.
The game lay consists of playing both an escaped mutant super-soldier being hunted by the military in the future, and alternately taking on the role of the human soldier in the past resisting the hordes of zombies in the aftermath of the Dusk-12 virus outbreak.
When one plays as the mutant, one finds guns cannot be collected, so other means of defence are taken. One may fight with bare hands, or use a ‘psychic’ ability to drain enemies’ life essence - very similar to the dark side ‘death grasp’ ability in the JEDI KNIGHT games hehe : ) With superhuman strength one may also at times break some parts of the environment, and also one can throw heavy objects such as explosive barrels, junked cars etc. During the course of events special abilities are unlocked including a slo-mo feature, flash-speed, and a sonic-boom type attack. These powers occasionally bring a rise to some simple puzzle scenarios.
Play as the human soldier is more conventional as you would expect, and one will build up the usual arsenal of weapons - pistol, shotgun, machine guns, rifles etc. Notably, there are also some vehicular sections, like being the gunner on the back of a truck barrelling down a canal - clearing the way ahead of hazards. Also at some point one may even drive the vehicle for a brief time.
Though the game borrows heavily from past shooters, Dusk-12 remains a nice game which is reasonably accomplished, with some good ideas. It must be said however, out of the box the game has some really serious bugs, and this probably contributed to the fact there was never an international release. (Review by Doomed_Space_Marine)
