Spring 1945: World War II is drawing to a close and the Russians and Germans are caught in a furious battle for Berlin. The player takes the role of a German sniper recruited by the OSS (former CIA) to carry out a series of missions of vital importance against the NKVD in what should be considered as the first battle of the Cold War. It features a promising setting, previously ignored: Berlin, May 1945 - a time of transition between World War II and the Cold War, in a devastated Berlin. It's based on two types of gameplay closely intertwined: Stealth & Snipe. The art of stealth (3rdperson view) involves avoiding all the dangers in a deadly city, the player needs to infiltrate and find the best sniping position. The skill of sniping (1stperson view) is affected by various elements - distance, breathing, wind, timing, and techniques - empty lung, luring, etc. The single-player campaign takes place over 28 missions. Players use stealth tactics, and things like wind and background noise can be a factor when lining up shots. When a shot is performed particularly well, players are rewarded with a 'bullet cam' which follows the bullet in slow-motion from gun barrel to target. The game also includes a multi-player mode with a number of different game types. To reinforce the stealth aspect, there is a camouflage index measured in percentage that displays the visibility of the protagonist. You use several WWII-era weapons, including sniper rifles (Gewehr 43, SVT-40, Mosin-Nagant M91/30), a silenced pistol (Walther P38), submachine guns (MP 40, PPSh-41), machine guns (MG 42, DP), an anti-tank weapon (Panzershreck), and German and Soviet hand grenades (which can be also used to make tripwire boobytraps). | ||
