INCorporated (2005 FPS) - New Game?

Postby Steve » Mon Oct 07, 2013 12:49 am

SUMMARY

INCorporated was a title being developed by Galahan Games using the "Reality Engine" from Artificial Studios. They released a tech demo of the game but, for whatever reason, it was never released in full commercial form. The company folded and now, it appears, the title is vaporware except for the tech demo. I can't vouch for the MEGA link but it appears to be the only one available.

The Dark Mod 2.0 (Doom 3 Mod) - Now Standalone

Postby Steve » Fri Oct 11, 2013 1:33 am

SUMMARY

This has been reported in numerous places elsewhere but, in case no one has mentioned it here yet... "The Dark Mod," a total conversion mod for the Doom 3 computer game that emulates the earlier games from the "Thief" franchise, has now been converted to being a stand-alone, freeware game. While there is no campaign of missions yet (like in earlier Thief games), there are plenty of independent, downloadable missions to choose from.

Star Trek: NCC-1701 (2013 FPS Fan) - New Game?

Postby Steve » Sun Oct 13, 2013 1:21 am

SUMMARY

Developers Gambit Realm has created a first-person / third-person exploratory "game" called STAR TREK: NCC-1701, written with the Torque 3D engine. The game's primary focus is on replicating the entire ship, allowing players with very fast computers to walk around inside of the ship with no level loads (you can also explore the ship in groups of levels instead of the whole thing). Otherwise, the game also includes game modes, such as chasing down enemy Klingons inside of the ship.

Monokrome (2013 FPS) - New Game?

Postby Steve » Thu Oct 24, 2013 12:23 am

SUMMARY

This has been reported elsewhere but, in case no one has mentioned it here yet... MONOKROME is a freeware first-person puzzler written by a 5-person team at the Queensland University of Technology. The game has the player using colored energy in order to solve puzzles in your efforts to chase down a murderous drone. The game is made with the Unity engine.

The Dark Crystal (2013 ADV) - Revamp of 1982/83 original

Postby Steve » Sat Nov 02, 2013 1:05 pm

SUMMARY

The Jim Henson Company, responsible for the Muppets-brand of puppets in projects such as "Sesame Street" and "The Muppet Show," created the movie "The Dark Crystal." As with modern movies, "The Dark Crystal" had promotional tie-ins and a computer adventure game of the same name was released by Sierra in 1983 (Other sources say 1982, the year the film premiered).

Recently, the Jim Henson Company made an official website concerning the film "The Dark Crystal." On that website is a recreation of the computer adventure game that is now browser-playable. Based upon what little I have seen from YouTube, the recreation appears to be a simplified version of that original adventure game. Nevertheless, it is free-to-play.

Hellraid (2014 FPS) - New Game?

Postby Steve » Fri Nov 29, 2013 7:19 pm

SUMMARY

HELLRAID is an upcoming FPS, from the developer Techland, slated for release in 2014. From their own website, "Join a group of fierce combatants mustered by the Guardian of the Ancient Tomes and begin your quest for the survival of mankind." The genre is Medieval Age with demonic magic thrown in (sort of like how DOOM 3 was sci-fi with demonic magic thrown in). Pictures, a blog, the E3 2013 trailer and more await you at the game's prospective website (link below).

Space Combat (2013 Sim) - New Game?

Postby Steve » Sat Nov 30, 2013 4:47 pm

SUMMARY

The very imaginatively-titled game named SPACE COMBAT is a freeware open-source 3D space combat game modeled after such classics like Wing Commander and TIE Fighter. In it, you play an intergalactic space law enforcement officer helping to stop pirates and other nefarious beings through flying around space and shooting at things.

Drakan: Order of the Flame (1999 ADV) - Info / Maps / Etc.

Postby Steve » Sun Dec 01, 2013 3:16 pm

SUMMARY

DRAKAN: ORDER OF THE FLAME, like so many older games, needs a bit of tender loving care in order for modern gamers to get the very most out of it. AROKH'S LAIR (named after the dragon character in the game), appears to be the only website on the Internet dedicated to keeping the game alive with maps, patches (official and otherwise), a still-active forum and information on both this game and it's later non-PC sequel. It is the one-stop shopping for anyone interested in playing this game.

Commando 4: Strike Force (2006 FPS) - Info / Etc.

Postby Steve » Sun Dec 22, 2013 3:11 am

SUMMARY

COMMANDOS 4: STRIKE FORCE, an FPS, appears to the "Red-headed stepchild" of the "Commandos" franchise of games made by Pyro Studios. However, there is some degree of unofficial support at what is likely the largest Commandos fan site on the internet, called "Commandos Fan Site." While support for Strike Force is limited in comparison to the earlier Commando games (although, to be fair, it has an extensive amount of screenshots), this site could be useful for those still interested in playing Strike Force to any significant degree.

As an aside, it would appear that Pyro Studios, the creators of the Commando franchise of games, has since turned their attention to the mobile market and, as a result, is unlikely to to create anymore Commando games... Making this site more valuable to those wishing to prolong their Commandos playing experience.

Eyesodic Games - Multiple FPSes

Postby Steve » Tue Dec 31, 2013 1:02 am

SUMMARY

EYESODIC GAMES is a developer of free-to-play FPSes that I have not seen listed here. Their games are "Days of Extinction," "Haunted Dreams," "Blood of the Divines," and "Reapers' End." They are also developing what appears to be a third-person RPG called "Legends of Dorin: Ravenshelm."

Project Silcharde (2012/3 Freeware TPS) - New Game?

Postby Steve » Sat Jan 04, 2014 7:16 pm

SUMMARY

PROJECT SILCHARDE is a freeware third-person shooter game that started off as a student project from the "UPC School" in Spain. It has apparently been worked on since and has now been featured as a freeware game in the December 2013 magazine "Computer Bild Spiele." The game was made with the Unreal Development Kit (UDK) engine and has some influences from Dead Space (such as the glowing spine progress bar).

Avoyd (1999 Simulation?) - New Game?

Postby Steve » Mon Feb 03, 2014 2:25 am

SUMMARY

AVOYD is a 1999 3D multiplayer game by "enkisoftware" that looks like a spiritual predecessor to 2008's Celestial Impact: Both involve the player being able to shoot away and add onto various asteroids in the playing area while also having to contend with deadly opponents. The 1999 version of AVOYD, once a commercial title, has since become freeware and should not be confused with an upcoming modern remake of the game (slated for release this year).

Freedom Force (2002/5 ADV) - Info

Postby Steve » Sat Feb 08, 2014 2:41 am

SUMMARY

Like a lot of aging games, 2002's FREEDOM FORCE & it's 2005 sequel (FREEDOM FORCE VS THE 3RD REICH) do not have as much of a web presence as they used to.

FREEDOM REBORN looks to be the last active unofficial message board for the game franchise. It is, in all essence, a one-stop shop for those wishing to partake in modern-day venturing into the Freedom Force franchise.

FRPMODS is a clone and consolidation of earlier sites that used to hold a whole lot of mods for both games (but mainly FF1). It is more geared towards mods then discussions.
