A little-known South Korean RPG based on the scenario "Pandora-wa Pangea Iyagi" (판도라 와 팡 게아 이야기), which won its first award in a 1996 themed competition. The plot tells the story of a young man named Leyer, who tries to rescue his friend Cibelic from prison, in exchange for completing a series of errands for the king. The gameplay is - at first glance - a standard role-playing game, but almost immediately it turns out that we have a kind of mixture of ideas from Ys and Diablo. A party can have up to four people; there are only three characteristics: attack, defense and agility. Of the interesting things, it is worth noting the parameters of fatigue (TP) and loyalty (Faithfulness). The first is consumed in battles and running, and the second is important when communicating with NPCs and interacting with party members: with a low indicator, some party members may leave us, and NPCs will not allow us to buy anything or stay overnight. Battles take place in real time (but there is no active pause), while the process in them can be automated by selecting the attack mode on the panel at the bottom of the screen (often hit or inflict damage while in a defensive position), and in the same way set up the artificial intelligence of the wards ... Magic is standard - it consists of attacking and healing spells. The adversaries are very different and very bizarre in appearance - bandit warriors, mud golems, yellow hyenas, unicorns, genies, and so on. The graphics give the impression of a budget: elements of the pre-rendered, drawn and pixel styles are rarely combined visually, and even more so beautifully. Although it is worth noting that the portraits of the characters and images of objects are well drawn. But the most surprising thing is the presence of the English version of the texts along with the Korean, which allows a much larger number of people to familiarize themselves with this thing. |
