This is a music game, where players must hit two keys following the rhythm of the background tune, to help a small one-eyed alien creature called Mevo to assemble the band Grooveriders. Mevo keeps running from left to right on a scrolling screen, passing on yellow and blue arrows on the path pointing left or right. The player has to hit the corresponding buttons when the alien touches the arrows. If the player makes a mistake, Mevo stumbles and rolls, losing a bit of health. The meter at the top shows the amount of health left, the score and combos. Green notes give points and are collected automatically. Some arrows have trailing dots behind them, where the button has to be held down for a sustained note. Freestyle starts after passing through a giant ring symbol, where the player has to alternate between the two buttons as fast as possible for extra points. There are five worlds with ocean, jungle, desert, and space themes, each with several levels. The player must achieve a minimum score to win a silver CD and move to the next level. A diamond CD must be acquired to change worlds. The creature look can be customized with new dance moves, body types, faces and costumes that give special powers. |
