Magic Pudding Adventure, The Dataworks 2000

A rare Australian collection of children's mini-games, timed to coincide with the release of the local cartoon of the same name, in turn based on the fairy tale story by Norman Lindsey "Magic Pudding", which was released back in 1918 and told about the koala Bunyip, who left home and met a couple of owners of a reasonable a pudding called Albert that never runs out no matter how much you eat it. The plot of the cartoon compared to the original was significantly changed, and the collection is almost not connected with it, much less with the "original source". There are five entertainments in total, all of them are available by clicking on the corresponding items of the main menu. There is not much to say about "jigsaw puzzles" and coloring: both games have a number of thematic images, switching between them is carried out by pressing the knife and fork located on the sides of the pudding at the bottom of the screen. The coloring, of course, provides standard options for erasing and printing (if you have a printer) the results of your "creativity", and the pictures are divided into segments that are proposed to be painted over with colors (the number of the latter, I must say, is relatively large). Local "puzzles", which pleases, are relatively complex - primarily due to the fact that they lack a "grid"; at the same time, there are not very many fragments, and their forms are not particularly complex. During the assembly process, you can see the whole image at any time. The three remaining mini-games are far less trivial. "Sink or Swim" is similar to Frogger: you need to successively transfer four cartoon characters across the river, giving them commands to jump on various objects floating in abundance on it in several rows, moving from left to right and right to left. There is only one "dangerous" type - killer whales; everything else, be it snags, life buoys, paper hats, pudding bowls, friendly pinnipeds, and so on, apparently, you can get up without fear. However, it’s still impossible to call this game quite simple, because if the character, who is on any moving object, leaves the screen with him, he will die in the same way as if he stood on a killer whale or fell into the water. "Puddin' Thieves About" - similar to Pac-Man: in the role of koala Bunyip, we walk through the labyrinths and collect puddings (there are much fewer of them than the dots in the "original" - just a few pieces), trying not to collide with opponents. The latter differ depending on the level, of which there are several in this entertainment; to go to the next one, you need to take all the above-mentioned edible bonuses. At each stage there is one pudding that emits radio waves - after picking it up, we can eat enemies for some (but, unfortunately, nowhere displayed) time, while in the "normal" state, contact with them ends in defeat ("life" missing, so the number of attempts is infinite). "Escape from Buncles Lair" is again a set of labyrinth levels, but much simpler: here we act as Albert's pudding and have to get out of the lair of the main villain, Buncle's wombat. All you need to do at each stage is just get to the marked exit; the only "danger" is a cluster of yellow squares, periodically appearing in different corridors of the level, contact with which leads to teleportation to a random area of the labyrinth. The architecture of the latter is not entirely simple, but due to the lack of enemies, real traps and time limits, even a small child can cope with this game without any problems. In addition to all of the above, there is a "Video Highlights" mode, in which you can watch fragments of the original cartoon; to move from one to another, again, the knife and fork located at the bottom of the screen are used.
