Odie scares Garfield while he's watching television, and the cat
ends up falling on the TV set. In a rushed effort to repair the television,
Garfield throws away the "spare pieces", and the tv becomes an electronic monster,
that transports Garfield inside. The game is a typical platformer, with Garfield
being able to attack enemies up close or throw objects at them (the close-range
weapons and objects thrown change between each level. There are also 2 special
stages: one that resembles a Whack-A-Mole! game, and one in which Garfield flies
through a tunnel, trying to grab Pookies for an extra life or continue. Go and
find all remote-control pieces to get out of the tv. The player advances
through levels and bonus rounds in his attempt to escape while picking up hamburgers
and pizza for health, and coffee for invincibility. Pooky, Garfield's teddy bear,
acts like a checkpoint to which Garfield will return if he loses a life. Unlike
most other platform games of its time, Garfield boasted completely unique art on
each of its six levels, both for tile art and character costumes. The levels are
inspired by classic movies, but given a Garfield twist, like: Cave Cat 3,000,000 BC,
Catsablanca, The Curse of Cleofatra, Count Slobula's Castle, Revenge of Orangebeard,
Alien Landscape, and Season Finale. |
