I Spy: Spooky Mansion Black Hammer Productions, Inc. / Scholastic, Inc. 1999

This was the second of the I Spy games based on the series of children's riddle and puzzle-solving books by Walter Wick and Jean Marzollo. Gameplay is fully point-and-click. At the bottom right of your screen there is an arrow you can use to back out of a game or a room. On the top right you have a question-mark; when you click on it you will hear instructions to help you proceed. It combines traditional, photorealistic I SPY picture riddles with an adventurous story and a long-term goal. As kids explore ten creepy and intriguing rooms, they find picture riddles, multi-leveled games, and spooky surprises that encourage problem solving, rhyming, reading, vocabulary development, and creativity. With every riddle they solve, kids earn a piece of the Secret Message Puzzle, which reveals clues to a thrilling finale. The riddles are little rhymes that are read aloud when clicked on, and the puzzles are designed to exercise some basic mental skills for 6 to 10 year-olds: problem solving, vocabulary, visual memory, logic and reading. In 2005, a Deluxe upgraded version was released having 50% more puzzles, three different ways out of the house, a secret room to discover, seven ghosts to create, and more.
