Zoboomafoo: Animal Kids Horizons / Brighter Child Interactive, LLC 2000

Zoboomafoo, featuring the Kratt Brothers (Martin and Chris), is an educational children's television show that airs on PBS in the United States. Like other games in the series, Zoboomafoo: Animal Kids focuses on a particular episode and presents the material as if the player were watching the program on television. The premise of this episode, as the title suggests, is to teach children about animals, by having them help the brothers care for the critters in Animal Junction. Combining full-motion video sequences starring the brothers Kratt, a lemur named Zoboomafoo, and live animals with animated games and features, the program deals with educational skill-building activities in the areas of picture recognition, eye-hand coordination, matching, and coloring. Intended for audiences in the three-to-eight-year-old age group, the game offers six "Print and Do Creature Craft" project suggestions, such as making a windsock, bird's nest, or pinecone bird feeder, and includes a print function for saving many of the activities. The game features three difficulty levels and nine breaks in the show, during which Zoboo introduces a different game to play, songs, and clips from the television show, and a complete Zoboomafoo adventure. As a reward for winning games, the player receives "googleberries," which are used for gaining additional goodies. The interface is mainly point-and-click with some keyboard input required.
