3D World War II (cancelled) LippieSoft / GameActive Networks 2001

You fight with numerous divisions of the German army against the backdrop of the bloody events of World War II. Your name is Jack Dalton and your rank is US Army Sergeant. Your commander is Major Mack. The outcome of the entire war now depends on your unit. Intelligence discovered a top-secret enemy base. Perhaps even the Fuhrer himself can sometimes appear there. It is necessary to infiltrate a heavily guarded facility and eliminate high-ranking representatives of the Wehrmacht command. The game never saw a commercial release but several demos of the game have survived on the Web (v 1.0, 2.0, 2.5 - the rarest case) with three different levels. Perhaps the authors planned to make a variant of the game for both sides: for the Germans and the Americans. This can be indirectly judged by the multiplayer announced in the demo, where the death match should be fought most often between two warring camps. There are 3D models of German soldiers, which contain a normal number of polygons for that time and are well textured. Also, pickups and large static objects have a good design in terms of texture detail. However, the animation of opponents is simply miserable and terrible. In fact, only the arms and legs move, and exactly like the wooden soldiers of Oorfene Deuce. Close to you, the 3D animation of the Fritz generally freezes, but it is compensated by a very angry facial expression. In general, it is difficult to understand when and where they are shooting at you, because the sound background and real shots in your direction are in no way distinguishable. Only declining health (the indicator is a beating heart) speaks of the injuries received. Trying to jump near low ledges for your character is a monstrous crouch. The armament is quite adequate for that military time. Pistol “1” (probably Walther systems), then “2” - grenades, then “3” - a powerful shotgun (it is ALWAYS hung on a “C grade” !!!), then “4” - a German MP-40 assault rifle, or just "Schmeiser", and, finally, "5" - a grenade launcher. Regardless of the power of the weapon, as a result of its use, the body of the enemy is torn to pieces. But the enemy is still strong. For example, to kill a Wehrmacht soldier, you need about 10 rounds from your Walter at best. But the shotgun "knocks down" anyone with one shot - and this is already a holy classic of the FPS genre. In the demo, the carry capacity of the weapons is severely limited. Perhaps this is how it was planned in the main game. The graphics are quite acceptable for the time. It should be noted that LippieSoft had a rather frisky engine that actively used the full power of DirectX. Although this could simply be due to some emptiness of the levels, where there are few 3D objects.
