This game is the same style as the original Asteroids. Float. Shoot. Destroy. Repeat. Except for in this version, there are “buddies” floating around. What are buddies? Think of them as asteroid groupies – they want to hang around the biggest one they can find, so don’t you mess with them, or they’ll come after you. But just like real groupies, years of neglect have left them weak and all they can do is push themselves harmlessly into you. Though, if no other big asteroid is around, they’ll keep nudging you, and if they push you into the path of an incoming asteroid - so be it. Luckily, their anger quickly goes away as they head for another big asteroid. If there are no big asteroids left, they will remain angry with you until you
have cleared the current wave and new asteroids appear on screen. The mechanics of the game are the same as the original, the graphics are also very similar, except that they feature colour. A modified version by John Retroreloader / Return learn games called Asteroid Buds 40th Mod was released in 2018 with: new sounds, music, graphics, difficulty and enemies behaviour to create a more challenging buddy experience. |
