Star Command: Surface_Skimmer Starfish Game Studios / Dusk2Dawn Interactive Limited 2007

This is a single-player space shooter. The story behind the game is that Earth was a quiet peaceful place until the evil Gantorians arrived. They are an intergalactic race who live for one thing, war. They attacked Earth and Earth responded but her fighters just weren't good enough and Earth was destroyed. Now only one squadron remains and, with no home planet to return to, their mission is revenge. The game is entirely keyboard controlled, the left/right arrow keys steer the ship, the SHIFT key applies power to the engines, and the CTRL key fires. It consists of twelve levels, all of which are played against a one of four or five pre-rendered backgrounds. The player points the ship at an enemy craft and blasts away. There is in-game music, 'Mars' from Holst's 'Planet Suite' is heavily featured, and there are also sound effects. The game does keep score on each level but there is no cumulative score for all levels nor is there a high score table. Unusually there is no install program, each level is a self contained game and the player can load any level in any order and play it. Levels can be played directly from the CD or they can be copied to the players hard disk and played from there.
