Machacator Carlos Fierro 1989

Release Date: 1989 A simple virtual shooting gallery from the era of the “golden age” of Spanish gaming. Only CGA graphics are supported here (albeit in a fairly clear and eye-pleasing red-green palette), the sound effects are reduced to the beeps of the PC Speaker, but control is implemented exclusively from the keyboard - both using the arrows and using the purely Spanish set of keys O, P, Q and A. The last circumstance somewhat complicates the actual gameplay: without a mouse, moving the cursor for dynamic shooting is not very convenient - however, it’s quite possible to get used to it, and in reality everything here turns out to be quite simple and even primitive. We simply go through three local levels, one after another, made in the surroundings of the jungle, trying to get there (by pointing the cursor and pressing the "spacebar") in the evil bandits appearing from behind fences and thickets before they begin to actively and successfully shoot at us. At the bottom left is a scale of the invisible protagonist’s vital energy, steadily decreasing as enemy bullets and grenades reach their target, and in a similar place on the right is a counter for the points we gain. For "ordinary" opponents you are awarded one hundred points, for more complex ones (for example, those who do not stand still, but move around the screen) - two hundred, but for the successful completion of all three levels you can get a whole thousand. At the same time, the game does not have any global goal, other than simply gaining points, and, in fact, there are no settings: when starting, you can only select one of three speeds according to the power of your PC, and also, if you wish, admire the current record table or write one down on disk. The levels differ little from each other: on the first of them, an equally evil and hostile snake can only appear in a random order - in addition to the usual bandits; on the second and third, enemies are able to launch grenades at us, causing much more damage than ordinary bullets; Well, the very last stage occasionally also pleases with a plane with machine guns that appears out of nowhere (fortunately, it also dies from a single well-aimed hit). In this case, the transition to the next screen occurs automatically after a certain period of time (not displayed anywhere), and after the third level we again find ourselves on the very first one, and with health restored to maximum - and so on ad infinitum, i.e. until the death of the protagonist (with the possible inclusion of his name in the list of record shooters).
