With Silent Walk you can create FPS style games without any programming knowledge. It uses the Blitz Basic engine and there are basic game elements to choose from. There are walls, 3d objects, enemies, monsters and more. There are hundreds of free textures, sounds and 3d models, but you can use your own items if you want. It comes with a model converter which helps you to convert your Wavefront.obj models to Silent Walk animation format. Games created are stand alone games, there is no need for special environments. The program generates the runner application and collects all items needed in the game in a folder. All you have to do is to create and save your work. Version 1 had features such as: .AVI intros/outros/game over videos; unlimited amount of levels; ability to use .man models; ability to use .jpg, .jpeg, .png, and .bmp textures; ability to use .mp3 or .wav music for each level; ability to use custom weapon, ammo, and death sounds. Version 1.1 (2007) fixes multiple bugs and adds more to the editor itself. Version 2.0 (2008) has a new GUI, and boasts an engine upgrade but has been proven to be very buggy. Silent Walk Renaissance is a new and improved version of Silent Walk 1.1 with: rewritten Game Editor and Game Engine; improved enemy AI; added game scripting via GML, multi-floors with built-in stairs creator, new Weapon Editor, melee weapon handling, weapon animations, pixel perfect shoot/attack hit handling, fully scriptable player HUD, animated texture support (even on HUD), model formats (MAN, GM, OBJ, MD2), texture formats (PNG, BMP, GIF, JPG, TGA, PCX, GMSPR), 3D Particle System, Skybox, built-in model editor. This version improves many features that were buggy in Silent Walk 1.1, with an addition of new ones. Of course, some features are still buggy, but that is to come with any other game creating software out there. It's also completely free! |
