Originally on Amiga in 1989, this is a classic arcade style shooter for 1 or 2 players, and a spiritual successor to Hybris. You take a space ship and fly it over a high tech hostile surface, and then into an organic setting. You can control the number of 'credits' you have from 1 to 3. You choose how many lives you get. You also get to choose the max number of enemy bullets and their speed. You get powerups along the way that modify your weapons, and also the "Nova Smart Bomb". Taking place many years in the future in another star system, a century long war has been waging between the Earth Defence Fleet and the ruthless Barrax Empire, with mass casualties on both sides. Your comrades Commanders Bergin and Mayers have been captured on a reconnaissance mission and are currently being held hostage on the hostile planet of Terrainia. Your mission: to rescue the commanders and eliminate the Barrax threat that exists on the planet. Traverse multiple levels and take down hordes of enemies. Defeat ground defenses, vehicles, aircraft and alien technology to increase your score. Collect power-ups and hidden caches to increase your chances of survival. Level up various weapons and wage destruction on your foes. Face end of level bosses in the ultimate showdown. Tweak the speed and quantity of enemy bullets to change the difficulty level. Beat the high scores and take your place on the leader board. Co-operative multiplayer mode also available. |
