An interactive thriller adventure game originally on PS3 in 2010 from the developer of Fahrenheit and Omikron: The Nomad Soul. The player controls several seemingly unrelated characters, each with their own storylines and motivations. The Origami Killer has struck again. Recognized by his unique habit of leaving an origami figure at the center of his crimes, the serial killer has taken another victim. With his pattern of killing his victims within four days time is running out to save him. This is where the lives of four characters become entangled as they all search to stop the Origami Killer: Ethan Mars, a former architect overcome with depression and guilt over an accident leading to one of his son's death; Norman Jayden, an FBI profiler investigating the Origami case using an experimental device known as ARI (Added Reality Interface); Madison Paige, a nightmare filled journalist who unexpectedly finds her way into the investigation; and Scott Shelby, a private eye hired by families of victims of the serial killer to find things the authorities may have missed. The vision behind this uncommon title is the reflection over human behavior, emotions and experiences in a way as realistic as possible. During the story, the main characters face many complicated riddles and challenges, and struggle against their own emotions. The product features high quality graphics and very realistic animations. Each character plays a key role in the events of the title and has their own backstory and motivations. The story is told in such a way so that the elements, which previously seemed unconnected, create a consistent whole at the end. Morality and ethics play a major role in the script. The studio has left the hardest decisions up to the players, those decisions will dramatically impact the subsequent course of events. It is the manipulation of the players' emotions that distinguishes this project from other games on the market. The graphics have been designed to portray human behavior as accurately as possible, which is why the authors have put a lot of effort towards the facial expressions of characters, and mimics in general. During the game one can admire the incredibly realistic feel of Heavy Rain’s heroes. The game also offers spectacular special effects. Car crashes, explosions and weather effects show the incredibly advanced level of graphics. Locations that create the atmosphere of hopelessness and sadness are worth mentioning as well. | ||
