Blue Planet Dilogy (Age of Aquarius and War in Heaven) 1999

Blue Planet is a fan-made FreeSpace story, set 18 years after the events of FreeSpace 2 and the destruction of Capella, the shattered colonies of man are finally ready to re-open the jump node to Earth. As the Alliance teeters on the verge of total social collapse, the Security Council deploys the elite 14th Battlegroup to re-establish contact with Earth, and young pilot Samuel Bei finds himself once more under his estranged father's command. Featuring epic missions, full voice acting, in-engine cutscenes, a custom AI, a new species, new warships and fighters, and thousands of words of new fiction, it's one of the most acclaimed FreeSpace campaigns ever made. Age of Aquarius is the first chapter of the saga and can be described as a hardcore and more enjoyable version of the main FreeSpace 2 campaign. This campaign is arguably one of the hardest ever made for a FreeSpace 2 mod, but it is also probably one of the best. The infamous "Forced Entry" mission, in particular, has been known to frustrate players unable to complete it, and delight players who eventually do pass it. The same could be said for the mission "Keepers of Hell", albeit to a smaller extent. The plot twist at the end is one of the last things most players expect to come from the GTVA, and it pretty much sets an optimistic tone for War in Heaven. Of special note is the custom music that Darius uses, which helps to convey the mood of each and every mission. War In Heaven takes place eighteen months after the events of Age of Aquarius and details the final stages of the civil war between Sol and the rest of her colonies: a war without good or evil, only shades of gray. A working copy of FreeSpace 2 and FreeSpace Open 3.6.12, including an Inferno build, are required.
