This is the 4th major release by the Benchmark Sims. The focus of this simulator version is realism and systems modelling of the aircraft: Lockheed-Martin F-16C/D Block 50/52 flown in a simulated air, naval and land war set in the Korean area. The basic game play has not changed compared to the original: one pilots the F-16C to carry out various mission types in a war zone based in Korea, where North and South Korea are at war in campaign mode. It can be flown in single player or networked multi-player mode. Missions can be intercepts, combat air patrols, ground strikes, naval strikes or recon type, for instance. While the pilot carries out missions, independently, the ground war is progressing and its outcome is influenced by the results of the missions flown. One can choose to fly missions or to sit back and watch the war progress. Mission planning, training missions, as well as Instant action mode are still present. In the latter mode the pilot can choose A-A or A-G missions and score points. All achievements are recorded in the pilot flight log. Regardless of game mode, one can set the simulator to 1 of the 4 flight model modes: Accurate activates the full Advanced Flight Model (AFM); Moderate sets AFM without lateral asymmetry; Simplified sets Original Microprose “accurate” Flight Model (OFM); Easy sets the Original Simplified flight model. The following theater of operations are included (separate theaters can be inserted): Korea, Korea Original (Falcon 4.0), Korea Player vs Player, Korea Strong DPRK, Korea Old Aircraft (1950 era only). Highlights of the 1500+ changes include: improved stability, new hi-res 3D clickable only cockpit with 6 DOF, new HUD type based on Marconi, Team Speak support, support for external mission planning software, improved explosive effects and animation for some 75 types, improved F-16C Block 50/52 flight model and engine model, dynamic weather system, improved weapons modeling, adaptation to higher screen resolution to match contemporary video card capabilities, HDR and self-shadowing implemented, new set of flyable aircraft (F-4, F-14, F-15, F/A-18, 1950 era jets, and more), aircraft carrier operations, customisable training scripts, new battle areas includes: Balkan, Korea with 1950 fighters, and more. |
