Brink of Consciousness: Dorian Gray Syndrome MagicIndie Softworks / Big Fish Games, Inc 2012

In Brink of Consciousness: Dorian Gray Syndrome the player takes the role of a reporter named Sam Wilde. You are currently reporting on a set of odd disappearances of young people. The plot moves into a more personal setting when your own girlfriend, Anna, is abducted by a man named Oscar. Oscar starts his relentless taunting with a message to hopefully save Anna starting at the Goldvale Manor. The journey which Oscar has in store for you begins there but he is always in contact with you through a speaker system installed in almost every room. Through this mono communication channel he continues his taunts along with an occasional hint or riddle regarding how to proceed. In solving your obstacles Oscar continues to also provide examples of his recent victims that have been preserved in some sort of green embalming fluid cylinder like capsules. The victims only add to your fear if you can reach Anna in time before Oscar completes this process on your beloved Anna. The player interface and game mechanics provide a hybrid approach of graphical adventure with on screen movement touch points, puzzles and hidden-object search style game play. Objects collected in inventory at the bottom of the screen require the player to drop or drag them onto other items in the scenes to activate or complete needed tasks for progression. Hidden object scenes are somewhat traditional with word objects at the bottom. Some objects must be combined in the scene to be found and are indicated by colored words. Objects requiring this function are listed in a different colored text.
