This is a complete departure from the series norm. First of all, it's a sidescrolling metroidvania with robust beat em up action. Secondly, there's not much in the way of Artesneit's usual art style in the game. The game is "horror-cute" or "edgy-cute" with minimal Giger elements. The SD demon girl protagonist, the lifebars, and enemies semi-resemble his main style. It can take 20 hours to finishe the game. It's a pretty rough metroidvania, but has really fun and addictive combat mechanics. The combat and ARPG aspects are well done. Do you like 2D single-plane beat em ups? How about fun risk-reward mechanics that ratchet up the tension of just about every fight in the game? Are you cool with tough enemies with varied move sets that continually test your grasp of those mechanics? Are you a fan of the God Hand combo system? If you're nodding and saying yes, then it's worth throwing this one in for a few hours. |
