Samorost is a click-and-point adventure game, created by Jakub Dvorsky while
he was a student at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, department
of Graphic Design and Visual Communication in 2003. You indirectly control a little
gnome who travels to an incoming world about to collide with his home world. You
move screen by screen, trying to find a solution to vague puzzles. Interaction is
triggered by clicking hotspots. The game has an isolated atmosphere, with eerie music.
It is never very clear what needs to be done, but often you need to cause a combination
of events to keep travelling. The gameplay mixes technological ideas with purely
organic structures, in very surreal environments. It's a wonderfully bizarre and strangely
fun Flash adventure game that is full of clicky puzzles and
beautifully rendered scenes mixed with animations and various gadgetry. The
soundtrack is delightful with sound effects and music to fit the mood of the
surrealistic adventure. It's not very long, but will keep you busy for just the right
amount of time. It's quite large though, measuring 950 pixels wide by 750 pixels
tall. Enjoy this masterpiece of creativity and interactive art. Originally released
as browser-based flash game, Telltale Games offered the game through their electronic
store at the end of October 2006, with a Windows installer that does not require a
browser or a flash player installed. In 2021, a Steam version included: remastered sounds, enhanced graphics, and new music by Floex. |
