PuzzleBloom Team Shotgun / Det Danske Akademi for Digital, Interaktiv Underholdning Filmskolen 2009

This is a lovely Unity 3D game, winner of the IGF 2010 Student Showcase. It's a 3D isometric puzzle game in which you must bring greenery and life back to cold, dead, industrialized floating islands. You achieve that by being a green fuzzy dude, who leaps parasitically from drone to drone, controlling their actions to gain access to a node which will light up the environment with trees and grass. It’s a bit like Okami. The floating, ghost-like character controlled by the player is not able to move on its own; instead it needs to temporarily possess another creature to move it around to activate switches or push boxes. In order to travel around, another creature needs to be in sight and at the same level of the one controlled by the player. At times, the creatures can die, but then the player's character needs to find a new host before that happens. There are also robots that try to get the drones back to work. These can also be temporarily possessed and controlled to a degree, but they quickly explode and cannot be taken over long. Most puzzles consists of different switches that activate platforms or open passages, along with boxes and moving laser beams that kill instantly. The two game worlds are divided in different sectors where checkpoints are activated by making nature bloom again in that area. The environment is presented using a cel shaded style and the camera can be moved around, and zoom in and out. The game is a student project and is free to play, but by donating some money additional levels are available.
