Star Wars: Yoda's Challenge Activity Center Lucas Learning 1999

Just as Yoda instructed Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Force, now he can instruct your children in the ways of math, music, reading, and other skills -- well, almost. Instead of the swamps of Dagobah as a setting, your kids can sit comfortably in front of the family computer as they play Star Wars: Yoda's Challenge Activity Center. Aimed at children between the ages of six and eight, the animated program features six games meant to entertain them as they learn. Each game has four difficulty levels and focuses on teaching a designated subject. In addition to Yoda, several characters from Star Wars movies help to administer the activities, most notably Jar Jar Binks, Queen Amidala, C-3PO, and the Mos Eisley cantina band. Spatial relationship recognition through the use of geometry is stressed in "Unscramble the Queen's Computer," as players attempt to fit a given set of shapes into a puzzle in order to reveal detailed data about characters, vehicles, and items of the Star Wars universe. In "Program C-3PO," young readers can reinforce their novice abilities by helping the protocol droid arrange words so as to form a story. By exploring the Gungan caves, children can enhance their direction-following and map-reading skills, or they may opt to improve critical thinking and time over distance in a race between Jar Jar and Amidala. Finally, musical basics such as keeping the beat and reading notes are taught in the other two games.
