This MMORPG set in a fantasy universe based upon J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth writings and Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings films offers players a chance to participate in a constantly evolving world full of hobbits, elves, men, and dwarves. The Dark Lord Sauron has sent out the Nazgul to find his Ring and all of Mordor is stirring. Players can choose their sides and take part in the war that will decide the fate of Middle-earth. Design features allow users to create a unique individual with a customized face, hairstyle, clothing, armor, and more. As they advance in power and prestige, players can also purchase houses, run businesses, harvest rare resources, and gain valuable items. Choose to fight on the side of evil as a minion of Sauron or stand for the cause of good in the Fellowship of the Ring. Explore Mordor, The Misty Mountains, and The Shire as you carve out your existence in Middle Earth. Create a completely customized character by selecting your favorite face, hair, clothing, race, and armor. Originally subscription-based only, it has become free to play on September 10/2010, with a paid VIP subscription available that provides players various perks. In Mar/2022, on the 15th anniversary of the game, older expansions including Mines of Moria, Siege of Mirkwood, Rise of Isengard, Riders of Rohan, and Helm's Deep were made free. In addition, VIP subscribers will gain access to the game's more recent Mordor, Minas Morgul, and War of the Three Peaks expansions at no additional cost. | ||
