This fourth Law & Order game is the first to be based on one of the similar
spin-off tv shows. A different game engine from the previous games, this one lets
the player take on the role of Detective Robert Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) and
experience the game from a third person point of view. With multiple cases to solve,
the player will investigate crime scenes, search for valuable evidence and interview
witnesses and suspects. It offers the player an innovative and psychologically
oriented interview technique, to help with breaking down potential suspects.
Innovative puzzles ranging from easy to mind-bending are woven into the compelling
storyline. Before solving each case, the player must build a profile based on
real-life criminal profiling techniques to help track down the killers. It features
voice-overs by the actors and actresses from the show. As Goren, players will need
to investigate 3 different homicides, each with different scenarios, evidence,
witnesses, suspects and motives. You are able to switch between Goren's available
cases at will and return to them when ready. Then, a 4th murder occurs which brings
to light a much larger plot connecting them all. The game features a point-and-click
interface, 3 difficulty levels (which control the amount of helpful hints you receive),
a travel map, inventory objects to collect and use, as well as over 50 speaking
non-player characters. Supposedly the game is quite buggy which detracts from some
of the fun. |
